Best of East Yorkshire from Your Cosy Cottage Base
It all begins with an idea.
Tucked between open countryside and the coast, our Cosy Cottage in Welwick offers more than just a peaceful place to stay, it’s the perfect starting point for exploring the best that East Yorkshire has to offer. Whether you're here for sea air, country walks, local food or heritage spots, there’s plenty to fill your days and still leave you time for a soak in the hot tub when you’re done.
Coastline Walks and Seaside Gems
No visit to East Yorkshire would be complete without a trip to the coast. Head just a few miles from our door and you’ll find Withernsea’s beach, where you can paddle, wander the promenade, or climb the unique town-centre lighthouse for panoramic views.
Further north, Bridlington offers all the traditional seaside fun – think donkey rides, harbour views and award-winning fish and chips. From there, take a short trip to Flamborough Head, where dramatic cliffs host nesting puffins and sweeping sea views. Spurn Point, closer to home, offers a completely different experience – a peaceful nature reserve stretching three miles into the Humber estuary, perfect for wildlife lovers and photographers alike.
Country Trails and Hidden Wildlife
If you’re more drawn to rolling hills and quiet lanes, the Yorkshire Wolds are just the ticket. Bring your walking boots or bikes and take in the peaceful valleys and pretty villages along the Wolds Way. Millington Woods is a favourite for gentle walks, and if you're lucky, you might even spot deer or kingfishers.
Fancy something a little different? Book a Highland Cow Safari at Dumble Farm – just a short drive away – and meet the herd for a fun and memorable family outing.
History, Heritage and Local Flavours
There’s no shortage of culture nearby either. Burton Constable Hall is a beautifully preserved Elizabethan house with parkland to explore, while Hedon’s historic streets and impressive church, known as the “King of Holderness,” offer a slower pace.
For foodies, East Yorkshire is a treat. Laurel Vines vineyard offers low-carbon wine tours and picnic spots, while the award-winning Pipe and Glass in South Dalton serves Michelin-starred meals in a warm, countryside setting. For a more casual bite, Drewton’s Farm Shop is ideal for picking up local cheeses, baked goods and gifts.
Your Welwick Retreat
After a day of exploring, return to the peace of your Welwick cottage. Let the dog run in the enclosed garden, fire up the BBQ, or just sink into the hot tub and watch the stars appear over the East Yorkshire sky.
There’s no rush here – just space to slow down, breathe deep, and discover the best of East Yorkshire at your own pace.
